Classroom Management

In this section, we will have a focus on classroom management -- a key factor in new-teacher attrition (please read the post "But first, a word..."). Research shows that new teachers often feel unprepared to effectively manage their own classrooms (Education Week, Heubeck, 2021), and although there are many good resources out there, I have struggled to find a textbook that addresses the needs of pre-service teachers with what I believe is a a good balance of "management" (rules, procedures, consequences...) and "leadership" (relationships, restorative practices, response to student needs). I am developing this blog for the use of my own preservice secondary teachers, but hope it will be informative and helpful to others as well.
