Welcome to Educator Launch! This is my attempt to consolidate research, theory, and experience to help prospective teachers and new teachers be the best they can be.
My Story
I have been a teacher for more than 40 years. I love teaching, I love mathematics, and I love teaching mathematics! I have taught in a wide variety of environments from private to public schools, in Title 1, alternative, traditional, and college-preparatory schools. I have taught math in grades 7 through college, and have served as a district math coach for grades 3 - 10, a Project Director on a 4-district math grant, and a curriculum developer and designer. I have presented at regional, state, and national math conferences and have been a consultant for district and state math departments across the country. My book, Modeling with Mathematics: Authentic Problem Solving in Middle School, was published by Heinemann in 2015, and I served on the California Mathematics Framework Committee, working to rewrite the California Math Framework (approved 7/2023).
For the past decade, I have dedicated myself to teaching teachers and pre-service teachers. I have made it my mission use my knowledge and experience of mathematics education to teach, support, encourage, and inspire future math teachers.
